Compared to 2009, the current year has brought along several important changes for the Estonian diners. During the years of economic development, customers blamed the restaurants for trying to be identical – i.e expensive and good.
Now things have changed – the current trend is to be different from others, and this applies to the diners as well.
Therefore, it was the right time to change the evaluation categories for the diners. From now on, the best fine dining restaurants will be chosen separately from others. Another difference is that evaluation will be carried out not on the local level, but nationwide. Each category winner is the best restaurant in the whole country.
In Tallinn, it is now possible to eat more interesting, diverse and better food than ever before! This has also influenced the charts of the best restaurants. Only two restaurants out of twenty two have the same rankings as in the previous year.
The triumph of simplicity has finally reached the best restaurants of our capital – hopefully, with the purpose to stay. Although local food is appreciated very much, Tallinn can be considered an Italian city – there is an Italian restaurant almost on every corner of the Old Town.
Tallinn is the only city in Estonia and that is why its diversity is justified. Perhaps next year, it will be possible to enjoy the food of other countries besides Italy.
You can hardly remember the time when the River Emajõgi was so filled with water like this spring. Powerfully flooding water washed away everything on its way. And that also in the last year’s top of Tartu eateries.
Although more than half of last year’s best eateries got into the top this year too, nobody maintained their place. Three risers, two fallers and three newcomers in the top eight shows that it is exciting to visit Tartu eateries. Everything is constantly changing!
Estonia used to be famous for its qualitative agricultural products. Now it is time to return to the past, because different Estonian diners frequently offer food the only aim of which is to stick to your ribs.
If the food does not give people the slightest idea of their whereabouts, there is no reason to stop by. And for those, who do not have the local roots and pride, Estonia is small enough to drive to places that are worth visiting without stopping on one's way.
Fortunately, there are always pleasant exceptions that deserve visiting, no matter where their location is. The best of them are listed below. Travelling around Estonia is definitely worthwhile, even if the sole purpose is to enjoy the food.
