Anna Edasi pays it forward

Anna Edasi (Pay It Forward) is a funny name for a café. Funny to those who are unaware of the fact that the name does not belong to the café, but to a person. Indeed, Anna Edasi was a feisty woman from the island of Hiiumaa. The simple meals she prepared are remembered by her granddaughter to this day.

And now the granddaughter is doing a bit more than just remembering – she is serving the dishes to others. Anna Edasi is a charming little café in the Karlova city district of Tartu. The streets are empty during daytime, as the bourgeois way of life is yet to find its way back to the neighbourhood.

But it is sure to come back, as the café Anna Edasi is always packed with people. Homemade bread, semolina mousse and sugary pretzel are the three main attractions of the café. It may not be much, but it is more than enough for a small café.
