Muhu fish café – an attractive eatery.

Fish and a café? What an unusual combination! The café is located just off the highway and the uncommon name attracts the curious like a magnet.

Inside the café, however, the combination turns out to be completely logical. Fish has always been a traditional food on the small Muhu island. And coffee is served to all guests in any Estonian household.

In fact, the Muhu fish café is just that - a family’s dining-room. Three or four tables. The chef is the mother of the household, and the food served has been caught from the sea by the family’s menfolk. The most popular dish is the perch caught in the same morning. The number of servings depends on the generosity of the sea.

You can always order fish soup, as well as fish pie to go with it. The latter can also be bought for later savouring to make Muhu’s flavours last longer.
