Püssirohukelder (Gunpowder Cellar) – with no risk of explosion

People who visit Tartu can be easily startled when looking for the cellar. Though situated in central Tartu, its surroundings look like a scene of a recent explosion. But the courage to keep going will fully pay off.

Next to the entrance door, there is a plate certifying that according to the Guiness Book of Records, it is the highest tavern in the world - 10.2 meters. Usually, church rooms are as high as that. Indeed, one feels emotional while sitting there. A beer hall for common men and a wine cellar for sophisticated men are nicely side by side.
