Crepp – the favourite place of meat eaters

First there was the café called Crepp. It is still there. Those unaware of the existence of the eponymous restaurant (with a separate entrance through the adjacent door) are likely to mistake the café for the restaurant. It actually does not matter because the café in quite good in its own right. Yet the detail-conscious connoisseurs who ranked Crepp as the second best restaurant in Tartu make a special point of emphasising that the votes have been given to the restaurant.

Crepp is a meat restaurant. A truly Tartu-like eating place. With no undue ostentation, the restaurant implies that Estonians have been meat eaters all along. As long as the tradition of eating meat perseveres, Estonians do not run the risk of extinction.

The dishes are homely and delicious. They inspire one to try to make them at home. And then there is once again a good reason to go to Crepp. To go and check out whose dish was better.
