Kolkja – fish and onion are all we need for life

There is one single place in Estonia where you can take a real taste trip of taste right back in time. It is Kolkja Fish and Onion Restaurant. The table is laid there with the dishes made by the very old recipes of the Russian Old Believers.

Should this town situated in one of the farthest corners of Estonia be fully separated from the rest of the world, nothing extraordinary would happen. Because people here have plenty of those few things needed for life. 

As long as there are enough onions from the garden and fish from Lake Peipsi, life is all right. The dishes made by old recipes without any modifications are incredibly tasty. A samovar “is singing” on the table and tea with self-made sugar definitely never runs out.
