Põhjaka Manor – taken over by peasants!

Manors are fancy buildings. Restoring and maintaining them in good shape costs a pretty penny. But here Põhjaka is, showing us that you can run a manor without a pile of money. They do it in the vein of simple peasants, perhaps resembling the dreams of our ancestors.

Põhjaka Manor, which was restored to a manageable state with scanty means, offers an atypical kind of manor nostalgia and without a doubt the best food one can find by the side of Estonian highways. You always feel rushed on a highway, but you have to take time out to eat good food.

And people do! As a punishment to the roadside fast food establishments, the car park at Põhjaka is always full of vehicles. The driver can and will treat himself to a nice meal. Põhjaka is there for him. Every Estonian highway deserves its own Põhjaka!
