MerMer – a restaurant, a home

You can open a restaurant anywhere. If you cannot find anywhere else, open one in your own home. It started out as a game, more or less. Jaaniranna was Merrit’s and Jaan’s home, where they gave restaurateuring a try as well. 

But the restaurant took over and has no plans of leaving. In the summer, it lounges around in the boatshed, in the winter it even moves into the living room. So for most Estonians, the first association they have with Jaaniranna is the home restaurant MerMer. But what about Merrit and Jaan? Well, they are allowed to go on living there, if they are absolutely sure they do not want to move. 

MerMer is a curious little restaurant, it tests and tries everything. The menu includes domestic goat and wild bear, sorrel and olives. But to this day, Merrit and Jaan are the only Estonians who dine in a restaurant every day.
