Alexander – the best can always become even better

In the five years when the ranking of best restaurants in Estonia has been compiled there have only been two winners. The highest place went to Muhu Island for the third year running. Boring? 


Far from it. As the people giving their votes are the same, the development of a restaurant in a year matters. And the best one always has the least room for development. 

Alexander has chosen a relatively narrow niche for itself – the cuisine of Nordic islands. You cannot go far in this niche, but you can go deep. Alexander’s ability to keep coming up with something new in this narrow field is simply amazing. That is what has brought them the title of the best restaurant for three years running. And this ability is showing no sign of waning.

TOP 50 OF ESTONIAN RESTAURANTS

This ranking is born out of the votes of the key employees of various Estonian restaurants. Each voter compiles a personal list of 7 restaurants that he or she thinks are the best in Estonia. The voters must have visited these places and the list cannot include the voters’ employers or restaurants related to their personal property. 

The restaurants that have been included in someone’s top 7 are invited to cast their votes as well. Each restaurant can appoint up to three of their most important employees as their voters: one member from the management team, one member from the kitchen staff and one member from the service staff. 

Taking part in the voting is strictly voluntary, not obligatory. The top 50 of Estonian restaurants is made up of restaurants that win the greatest number of votes.
